FACILITATION SKILLS
Facilitation has emerged as a cornerstone of modern management philosophy, emphasizing fairness and streamlining decision-making processes. By fostering a comfortable environment through effective facilitation, participants in our Facilitation Skills workshop will gain a deeper understanding of the positive impact a skilled facilitator can have on any meeting or gathering.
This workshop is designed to help organizations make better decisions by equipping participants with a comprehensive understanding of facilitation and providing them with practical tools to facilitate small meetings. Participants will develop a strong grasp of how a facilitator can effectively command a room and set the pace for a meeting, setting them on the path to becoming exceptional facilitators themselves.
The workshop aims to achieve the following objectives:
-
Define facilitation and recognize its purpose and benefits.
-
Clarify the role and primary focus of a facilitator.
-
Differentiate between process and content within group discussions.
-
Provide tips for selecting and preparing for facilitation.
-
Identify the facilitator's role in managing groups through the stages of group development: forming, storming, norming, and performing (as described by Tuckman and Jensen).
-
Explore ways in which a facilitator can guide a group toward consensus, from encouraging participation to facilitating solution selection.
-
Offer guidelines for addressing disruptions, dysfunctions, and difficult individuals within groups.
-
Define interventions, outline their appropriateness, and provide guidance on their implementation.
